Originally from Port Macquarie, Jamie began his journey towards being an osteopath
from humble beginnings as a masseur for another osteopath, Dr John Norman, who
later became a guiding mentor and instrumental in his decisions to pursue
Osteopathic Medicine and Exercise Prescription as a way to manage patients health
and injury from all walks of life.
“He was my inspiration to be an osteopath, and I soon realised that osteopathy was the perfect solution for a career path, enabling me to combine my passion for surfing, martial arts and strength and conditioning”.
This enables Jamie to assist people of all ages to overcome their injuries, whether acute or acquired through everyday activities, sport or unsupervised progressive resistance training/workouts. He also works with patients to assist with a wide range of conditions, including pregnancy related pain and the ageing process, including chronic degenerative conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis to being in a position to assist patients suffering from chronic pain through osteopathy, exercise and health and wellness advice.
Jamie believes osteopathy is the ideal professional intervention, as, in Australia,
osteopaths are government registered, (AHPRA) allied health practitioners who
complete five years of intense university training in anatomy, physiology, pathology,
general healthcare diagnosis, exercise prescription and osteopathic techniques. “We
are also required to commit to further learning and qualification through Continuing
Professional Development and speciality acknowledgement through our professional
association, Osteopathy Australia, as an Advanced Practitioner Recognition, APR,
which I am pursuing”.
Osteopaths provide musculoskeletal and nervous system assessments,
manual therapy; clinical exercise programs; and movement, postural, positioning
advice and ergonomic assessments. Your osteopath may also offer ongoing support
and educational advice about your lifestyle, stress management, diet or other factors
As an osteopath, Jamie liaises with general practitioners, sports medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, exercise physiologists, physiotherapists, nutritionists and radiologists to provide parallel care in our respective fields and provide peace of mind with definitive diagnosis, prognosis and the way forward.
