Clay Social is a local Byron Bay business created by artist & ceramicist Juni Ross.
Juni is an artist and ceramic designer who has also been labeled a “social activity machine gun”. Her love of both clay and gatherings spawned – CLAY SOCIAL – An excuse to bring people together exploring the therapeutic and fun ways to connect with clay. She hosts collaborative workshops such as Cork & Claytime on a Tuesday night with live music, as well as running courses from private one on ones to small groups. The focus is on hand-building techniques and the endless possibilities of working with clay, so come along and book in a class to let your creative muddy juices flow forth!
Juni is also an Australia-based artist & designer who specializes in large-scale painting, ceramic sculpture and design. In 2001, she graduated from London’s well-known Central Saint Martin’s College in ceramic design. Born of multi-cultural heritage of Thai, Argentine, British and Australian, she was inspired to travel and get a glimpse, an understanding of the bigger picture. She has been able to practice, be inspired, and exhibit in various countries all over the world.
Clay Social is not your run-of-the-mill clay pottery-wheel throwing class. This is an exploration of your creativity, limited only by the boundaries of your mind. The focus in class is on hand-building techniques and the therapeutic benefits of working with clay; the possibilities are endless. Your Maestra (Juni Ross), will unlock the skills you need to make something take-home worthy. So release those self-imposed boundaries and let your imagination run wild…. after-all, you can always just mash it up and start again!
